While running a successful business, William has dedicated many years to volunteering with the city’s aquatics programs as a swim coach and instructor.
William and Jennifer have also been volunteers for UC Irvine’s Bike ambassador program and are strong supporters of active transportation.
William and his family came to the United States as immigrants when he was only a child. His story is a testament to resilience, dedication, and a deep commitment to community.
Raised by their mother, William and his 4 siblings grew up seeing their mom work tirelessly to provide for her family. He learned the values of hard work and perseverance from a young age.
William's mother is Chinese, and he was born in the Philippines. He speaks and understands 3 languages: English, Tagalog, and Hokkien.
William's family reflects his commitment to service. His sister is a nurse and his brother is a physician. Their 78-year-old mother now enjoys her time between the homes of family members. This underscores William's deep understanding and commitment to support for aging populations.
William was the first in his family to graduate from college with both a bachelors and masters degree. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
William's professional career began working as a software engineer and product manager at Broadcom. He contributed to the company's global market expansion and built relationships that kickstarted a successful business career.
William's entrepreneurial spirit led him to become an owner of a hospitality portfolio, where he has overseen the growth of the business from 4 locations to over 30 nationwide. His leadership and strategic vision were instrumental in the revitalization and growth of the company. William is also a licensed broker with a deep understanding of finance, real estate, and contract negotiation.
William is the more experienced and qualified candidate in District 2 with a track record of leadership as a City Commissioner, committee member, volunteer coach, and successful business owner. William has been involved in our community as a longtime community volunteer with the City of Irvine's aquatics programs. He previously served on the City of Irvine's Great Park Development Task Force, and currently serves as a member of the Irvine Transportation Commission.
William has also completed an Ironman Triathlon, one of the most challenging one-day sporting events in the world. The race includes a grueling 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a full marathon of 26.2 miles, all totaling 140.6 miles. This reflects his dedication, perseverance, and ability to push through the toughest challenges—qualities he brings to his leadership in Irvine.
William is also an avid cyclist and experienced athlete who enjoys swimming, long-distance runs, and bicycle riding in his free time.
